About the Lecturer II

Bissessar Persaud is a full time lecturer at the University of Guyana Berbice Campus since 2021. His educational background includes a M.S in Disaster Risk Management and Climate Governance from Structural. University Spain, a M. Sc in Agricultural Extension Education from Punjab Agricultural University India, a M.Sc.in Agronomy Engineer from the University of Ciego De Avila Cuba and a Diploma in Agriculture from the Guyana School of Agriculture. Bissessar conducts the following courses at the University of Guyana: Principle of Plant Breeding, Agriculture Extension and Rural Sociology, Field Crops, Integrated Pest Management, Agricultural Entomology, Agribusiness Management. He also supervises the final year students in their projects and at the moment Bissessar is pursuing his PhD in Biodiversity in the area of developing salt tolerant rice genotypes, which is a collaborative work of the University of Guyana, University of the West Indies and the Guyana Rice Development Board. He is currently an executive member for Caribbean Agricultural Extension Providers Network (CaepNet).
