About the Reader/ Deputy Director (IMAREE)

Mr. Phillip Da Silva, A.A. is a Reader in the Division of Natural Sciences and Deputy Director of the Institute for Marine and Riverine Ecologies and Economies (IMAREE).  He received his formal education from the University of Guyana and the University of the West Indies in the areas of Biology, Marine Resources Management and Environmental Management. 
An educator with over thirty years experience, he has also served the University of Guyana in various administrative capacities. His research and publication interests include aspects of Marine Resource Management, Coastal Ecology, Mangrove Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Management, Conservation Biology, Integrated Coastal Zone Management, and Education for Sustainable Development. 
Mr. Da Silva is the recipient of a National Award, The Golden Arrow of Achievement, for his many years of dedicated service to Guyana in the field of education.
